One to two inches all over, with a tidy rounded face. It keeps the silky flow Yorkies are famous for while staying manageable. Brushing commitment: three times a week, minimum — Yorkie hair is fine and tangles behind the ears and under the legs first.
The Yorkie Short Cut
Half an inch to one inch, sometimes with a slightly fuller face. This is the wash-and-wear option: minimal brushing, no tangles, and your Yorkie still looks sharp. It’s what we recommend for busy owners, seniors dogs who dislike long grooming sessions, and hot Mississauga summers.
What About the Long Show Coat?
Floor-length Yorkie coats are gorgeous and genuinely high-maintenance — daily brushing, weekly baths, and top knots to protect the eyes. Beautiful if you’re committed; most pet homes are happier with a puppy cut.
